Shout out to my girl at nothing to display for giving me the heads up on the recently released film LOVERS ROCK from Menelik Shabazz. She knew that the intimacy of the music, the sensuality of the dance and the political charge of the 70s and 80s that the movement stemmed from would make it a must see for me.
The film tells the story of my generation before we even knew ourselves, simply because many of us were conceived through the love and lust the music stirred up in our parents.
